Decided to join a shared trip as my usual kakis weren't able to make it for the trip . Contacted DMC and they confirmed my slot instantly.
On the day, Choo from DMC picked us up from 3 different location before heading to Rompin at 4pm. We reached JB around an hour later and went for a nice but sinful dinner which Choo has introduced us to, followed by an two and a half hour drive up to Rompin.
Made a few pit stop for toilet break and refueling before we arrived at our beautiful homestay. The homestay was fully furnished and they even have a big freezer for us to keep our fishes for the day fresh till we return back to Singapore. Choo briefed us for the next day on what time to meet for breakfast and adviced us to get extra rest.
Next morning, Choo was waiting for us at 7am as we prepared for our first day of fishing. Travelled to the jetty and the captain was there waiting for us. As there were some first timer onboard, the captain took the initiative to give us safety briefing before we left the jetty.
Captain suggested to target Spanish Mackeral as the previous group were hitting many of them. We reached the spot and starting casting our minnows and soon enough I was on to a decent size Spanish Mackeral. The others were also getting constant hook up on live baits. We then went for Jigging where we caught a few decent size trevallies and a nice sailfish on live bait. Took a group photo with the Sailfish and quickly released it and headed back to the jetty for dinner.
Second day fishing was slow but captain siong make the extra effort keep changing spot for us.. Jigging was not very productive so we went hunting for sailfish instead. We hitted jackpot as we saw a flock of birds diving into the water catching baitfish.
Captain Kok Siong positioned the boat carefully and we dropped our live bait down and within seconds we were on to a double hook up. The sailfish kept us busy till late afternoon and we decided to end our fishing earlier as everyone was tired from all that Sailfish fighting.
We head back to our homestay to wash up and headed for dinner before making our way back home.
I must say, it is a very well organize trip arranged by DMC and they will definitely be my first choice next time when I am looking for my next fishing trip! Thumbs up DMC!
